Function

IFRS 17 was issued in May 2017, with an implementation date of January 1st, 2021. Regardless of the outcome of the EU-endorsement process, Aegon will need to publish SEC filings based on IFRS 17 from 2021 onwards. IFRS 17 fundamentally changes the external reporting of insurance companies, and Aegon expects to need the full period under 2021 to implement the new requirements. In order to be able to meet the deadline Aegon has set up a program to deliver IFRS 17. The program is coordinated from Group level and set up in a way that both at Group and Local level the same program structure is followed. IFRS 17 program falls under the responsibility of the Head Global Finance Transformation.

The architecture for IFRS17 is an integral part of the Aegon group Finance & Risk (F&R) architecture, which is developed and maintained by the global F&R architecture committee (FRAC). The mission of this team is to deliver an integrated future state architecture for finance & risk. The IFRS 17 requirements are expected to have a huge impact on the F&R architecture.
