Mortgage & Investment Analyst

Will you help Aegon in managing the (mortgage) funding transactions and performing sound investment analysis to optimize the investments on the balance sheet of Aegon NL? Join the Investment & Portfolio Analytics department as an Mortgage & Investment Analyst!

Working as a Mortgage & Investment Analyst means creating insights and analysis related to performance and composition of the mortgage and investment portfolio of Aegon NL. The results and insights of these analysis will be shared with senior management of Aegon NL as well as with the portfolio managers within the other departments of the CIO Domain. You will also participate in the reporting process on the existing mortgage/investment portfolio towards internal and external clients. Therefore you will work together with other departments within and outside the CIO domain.

This role also includes participating in new initiatives and projects related to (mortgage) funding transactions and/or new investment propositions by assisting in the Due Diligence process and the Investment Approval Process.

You will support projects linked to optimizing processes, data management and the improvement/expansion of the existing reporting package.

We currently have two job openings: one will have the primary focus on the mortgage portfolio and one will have the primary focus on the investment portfolio. Via potential rotation within the team we facilitate the development of each team member.

Depending on your development and initiative the role of Mortgage & Investment Analyst can also be a stepping stone to grow to a role of Portfolio Manager in the Investment Management department or Structurer in the Co-Investment Solutions department.


Experience in the Dutch financial sector is a requirement for this function. Experience with mortgages and/or investments differentiates you from other candidates. You have experience in performing financial (investment) analysis and are a quick learner in making logic connections.


  • You have a completed Master Degree
  • Field of study: Econometrics, Quantitative Finance, Actuarial Science, Business economics
  • A strong interest in the field of investments and asset management
  • 2 to 6 year relevant working experience
  • Eagerness to further develop yourself on the job as well as via studies like CFA
  • You are a result driven team player
  • You have a pro-active and constructive attitude
  • Sound quantitative & analytical skills
  • Experience with programming tools like VBA, R, SQL or other languages
  • Good communication and presentation skills

Note: the place of employment is The Hague; willingness to regularly work one day in our office in Leeuwarden is a requirement.


Within the CIO Office the investment portfolio of Aegon NL (over EUR 50bn) is managed. The CIO Office consists of three departments that each have their own focus area: Investment management, Co-Investment Solutions and Investment & Portfolio Analytics.

The Investment Management department focusses on the investment markets and determines the attractiveness of the investment opportunities. Co-Investment Solutions creates and maintains efficient financing- and investment structures.

Investment & Portfolio Analytics focuses on analyzing the relevant investment markets, investment portfolios and mortgage portfolio of Aegon NL and presenting the outcomes in different forms and reports.
