The department Internal Control at Financial Reporting & Operations (IC FR&O) is part of Corporate Financial Center (CFC). The primary objective of CFC is to provide Aegon’s Management Board, Executive Board and Supervisory Board with meaningful information to support the board’s decision-making process and deliver legally required reporting.
Being in control over our (financial) reporting as a key requirement for achieving Aegon’s strategy. Aegon wants to ensure high quality reporting and part of that is ensuring effective controls are in place across all our key processes.
The Financial Reporting & Operations (FR&O) team is responsible for gathering financial and non-financial data routinely in a controlled manner and delivering information for compliance reporting purposes and as a basis for Aegon’s management information. The Internal Controls team (within FR&O) is responsible for creating awareness of internal control with Aegon’s global business counterparts. The IC team is overseeing the implementation of Aegon’s internal control framework covering Group reporting processes, as well as assuring appropriate quality of those reporting processes. This means being an independent business partner to the reporting teams, providing advice to and dd efficiency to further strengthen Aegon’s internal control environment.
The department works very closely with other disciplines within Aegon’s Corporate Center and with all Aegon’s global business units to ensure timely and high-quality information. The environment in FR&O is very dynamic, and constantly evolving due to external regulatory demands and internal needs and enhancements. Managing & adapting to change in a structured manner is key to the long-term success of the department.
This is what you do as an Internal Control & Data Quality Officer
The Internal Controls and Data Quality officer will be supporting the process/control owners at Aegon’s Corporate Financial Center (CFC) to maintain effective (business and IT) controls. This includes planning the internal control cycle, testing of effectiveness of controls, and provide adhoc advise on control related matters. Aegon FR&O is in the process of switching from IFRS4 to IFRS17 reporting. This transfer includes new processes and controls, which need to be included in the regular reporting and testing process.
FR&O is currently implementing sustainability reporting following new regulations including CSRD and EU Taxonomy. This requires new data feeds, new solutions, enhanced processes and controls. You will assist in this transition by engaging with process and control owners and advising them on the design of their controls and establishing a regular internal control reporting cycle.
Also, as an DQ specialist, you assess the quality of our reporting processes and ensure appropriate data delivery between the different global reporting units and CFC. This includes implementing (together with system owners) new Data Quality standards within our reporting systems, monitoring (global) compliance with the DQ policy, and performing regular data quality attestations.
Furthermore, the Internal controls and DQ specialist supports the Head of IC to keep oversight over the Global finance function and efficiently and effectively work together with Aegon’s business units to obtain visibility of Aegon in control. As a member of the FR&O IC team, you will be working in an international environment, across all reporting delivery teams, and will be working together with people in multiple locations worldwide.
This is your future position, because you:
Financial background from an academic & professional perspective. University degree in Accounting, IT /operational audit, Business Administration, Economics, or other relevant discipline
Chartered operational/ internal auditor (or equivalent), of Accountant would be desirable
5 - 7 years of relevant experience in risk, (IT) control, or auditing
Prior experience with Data Quality
Experience with translation and implementation of regulations into relevant controls and data quality requirements is a plus
Structured and methodical approach to work
Fluent in English, verbally and written.

Team player with strong sense of responsibility and proactiveness in working with all counterparties and able to communicate across various levels within the organization

What will you be getting?
You will be earning between € 3.912,- and € 6.520,-. You will also receive a thirteenth month and a holiday allowance in the form of a monthly flex budget, amounting to 16.7% of your monthly salary
